I must admit that I was a bit skeptical at first about the concept of this crafty endeavor.  I mean…painting by sticker?  What?  I had heard of coloring by number and painting by number, but never ever painting by sticker.

So of course I was totally on board to join this blog tour so I could see just what all the buzz about this painting by sticker was all about.

And you know what?  It is tons of fun!

I was assigned to re-create the Bedroom in Arles painting by Van Gogh.  I was very happy about this.  It was my first pick as I happen to LOVE Van Gogh!

I was a good girl and read the directions before starting on my adventure.  As I expected, they are pretty straight forward.  Find the sticker that corresponds with its numbered spot and stick it there.  Rinse and repeat.

It did give the warning to be careful about where you stick them, as they are meant to stay once stuck.  However, I found that if I was very careful I could remove and restick them no problem if I didn’t quite get them in the right spot.  Do this at your own risk though!

So here is what I started with:

Yes, that is right, I started with a page with a bunch of blank spaces and two pages worth of stickers waiting to find their forever homes!  I took the suggestion that the directions gave of removing one part or the other from the book so I wouldn’t have to flip back and forth between the two.  And, trust me, it was definitely a smart idea.  I was turning my “canvas” all over the place to get a good angle for any given sticker.  Eventually I also ended up removing the sticker pages too.  It just made it so much easier over all.

And then I started sticking my stickers into place.  These actually take a good bit of time to do.  I think I sat down to work on this one 2 or 3 different times.  But it was nice.  I could turn on the TV or music and just go.  It ended up having the same effect on me as coloring does.  I could zone out, relax, and just enjoy myself.

It was also a lot of fun to watch the painting progress the further I got!

It wasn’t all fun and games though.  It got frustrating a couple of times  Some of the stickers are so small they were harder to get into the right spot.  Or there was that one sticker that ripped a little bit when I was trying to get it off of the sticker sheet!  If you can’t tell which one is is, I am not going to tell you (but I know EXACTLY which one it is).

This was also something I couldn’t work on when my daughter was awake.  She is 1.5 years old and is all about everything I am touching.  I didn’t want to risk her ruining any of the stickers so I kept it as far away from her as I possibly could.

But I did eventually finish it.  And I really like the end results.

And then I framed it!  And that totally made this thing look cool!

I had never really framed any of my coloring or other artwork so I was kind of blown away with how finished framing something like this would make it look.  I may be framing a lot of my stuff in the future.

Needless to say, I really enjoyed the whole process of painting by sticker.  I look forward to working on the other 11 paintings in the book.  It is definitely a unique craft, but totally worth it!
